Carol Kirkwood addresses Naga Munchetty feud rumours and reveals racy on air blunder

Carol Kirkwood has been on the BBC Breakfast team since 1983 and is now a TV favourite amongst fans.

The Scottish presenter, 60, is the longest-serving presenter on the breakfast programme and lights up screens every morning when she shares the weather forecast.

The meteorologist has now addressed rumours of a feud with her co-star Naga Munchetty, who typically helms the show from Thursday to Saturday every week.

The TV duo have clashed in recent weeks, but Carol has insisted their interactions are purely just banter between friends.

She told The Sun: “I love Naga and we just have banter. I love the camaraderie between us and everyone. It’s a good, fun job.”

The star also revealed one of her most embarrassing moments which occurred on air in August 2020.

The infamous blunder saw Carol suffer an awkward sip of the tongue while presenting live from Greenwich Park in London.

Carol kicked off her segment by saying: “Good morning everybody and Greenwich Park is one of the oldest enclosed royal parks and look at it.

“Fabulous. The sun is beating down. We’ve seen lots of doggers.”

Realising what she had said, the Strictly Come Dancing star quickly corrected herself, adding: “Lots of… not doggers, of course. Lots of dog walkers and joggers around here through the course of this morning.”

Recalling the moment, she told the publication: “That was the most embarrassing one. I think that’s going to follow me for the rest of my life.”

She added: “I still get it now – and I can’t believe I said ‘doggers’ twice, because I corrected myself. I could’ve been in a lot of trouble but it was obvious it was a mistake, and everybody saw the funny side of it.”

Carol was recently left baffled after a fan unearthed a throwback snap which was taken as part of the BBC’s most glamorous weather girls of 2001.

As the photo re-emerged, Carol responded to the fan: “Oh my goodness Rob! Where did you find this?!”
