She said: “And just like that the Corrie adventure is over. I’ve truly had the most fun working with the best people and have made friends for life. It was worth the 30 years of auditioning since I was 11 to end up working with these phenomenal peeps.
“What a crazy ride it’s been. Love you guys, Harriet Bibby, James Craven and Tom Lorcan who Is definitely in my top 5 of TV husbands (Yey! High five!).”
Vanessa shared a series of behind-the-scenes snaps in her post, posing with her co-stars on the set of the long-running soap.
Her co-stars were quick to share their well wishes, with Harriet writing: “Absolutely loved every minute.”
Jack James Ryan, who played Jacob Hay, said: “You killed it! Short but so sweet! Big love.”
One fan commented: “Good luck with whatever you do in the future Vanessa!”
Another said: “You’ve been an amazing character to watch and I wish you all the success and happiness in the future.”
And a third added: “You have been great to watch. Good luck for the future.”
Vanessa’s character Esther and her husband Mike were part of a controversial surrogacy storyline, also involving teen Summer.
Pregnant Summer agreed to a deal with the couple that they would take on her baby.
However she miscarried, but decided not to let the couple know.
Later, when Summer discovered Mike had a secret son from a previous romance, she figured out a way to get out of the deal.
But with Mike desperate to keep that information from Esther, he locked Summer – who is diabetic – in their home.
She collapsed but was later saved when an unaware Esther came home and called an ambulance.
