Coronation Street fans spot villain Dean from rival soap as he returns to cobbles

Coronation Street fans were stunned to see a familiar face on the ITV soap on Monday night (August 21).

Eagle-eyed Corrie fans never miss a trick and love spotting characters from other programmes, so it’s no surprise they recognized Dean actor Anthony Clark from rival soap Hollyoaks.

Dean Turnbull, the villain and drug dealer last seen bringing chaos to Abi Franklin’s door a year ago, is back on the cobbles and time he is terrorising newcomer Cassie Plumber, amid her drug addiction.

But this is in fact actor Anthony Clark’s fourth stint on the cobbles, with him playing Dean twice as well as two other roles.

In 2011, Anthony played a police officer in scenes linked to Jim McDonald’s armed robbery.

Fans recognised drug dealer Dean (Anthony Crank) from another soap

In the same year he played another police officer, this time attending the scene of a burglary at Janice Battersby’s house.

But this isn’t the only soap Anthony has appeared in as he starred in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

He’s made not one, not two but three appearances in the show and all as different characters.

Anthony made his debut in 2009 as Levi, a bouncer at The Northern nightclub in Hollyoaks: The Morning After the Night Before

The following year he became Steve, a television producer who broadcaster Duncan Button’s fake sixteenth birthday.

And he returned this year as Kenneth, an investor entangled in the affairs of a local youth club, sharing an unexpected moment with John Paul McQueen.

Anthony also starred in Shameless twice across 2009 and 2012. He played Phil and later played Bill.

In 2015, the actor also starred in BBC’s The Syndicate and five years earlier in 2010 he appeared in Accused.

On tonight’s episode, Cassie told Tyrone she was going to the Citizens Advice Bureau to start looking for somewhere to stay, Cassie actually met up with her drug dealer Dean who turned nasty as she owed him money.

Seeing Cassie fall to the ground in pain, Michael insisted on taking her to the hospital.

Dean followed them, and when Ronnie arrived at A&E, he saw Michael in the middle of a row with Dean.

When Dean punched Michael, Ronnie reckoned they should call the police, but Cassie asked them not to.

When Michael told Ronnie that that sort of thing happened all the time to Aggie, Ronnie was shocked and used the information to get Ed to go in on the deal so Aggie could retire.
