The news was revealed live on ITV’s Lorraine on Thursday (August 10) – with EastEnders legend Nigel making an appearance live in the studio.
Strictly bosses have been teasing fans all week with this year’s line-up – with several names being dropped across TV and radio.

Nigel and Angela will be joining the likes of Bobby Brazier, Adam Thomas and Angela Rippon for this year’s glitzy BBC One series.
Talking about his upcoming stint on the show, he said: “I’m amazed, excited, and terrified to be doing Strictly. As an armchair fan of the show I have watched in awe as people have twirled and gyrated across the screen. And now it’s my turn…..gulp!”
Nigel played Dennis Rickman, who married his adopted sister Sharon, played by Letitia Dean, on the long-running BBC soap from 2003 until 2005.
As fans will remember the soap hunk was killed off when he was stabbed on New Year’s Day.
The 49-year-old has also gone on to star in BBC medical drama Casualty, joining the cast in 2023 as Dr Max Cristie, the new Clinical Lead of the department.
On Lorraine, Nigel said: “I’m excited to be out and proud now.”
He told stand-in-host Christine: “I think I’m realising since I said yes to it, in my my mind, I think I’m a better dancer than my body tells me.”
Annabel was confirmed to be taking part in Strictly later on in the show.
The former British Number One tennis player was just 15 years old when she became the youngest British player to compete at Wimbledon for 95 years.
She also represented Great Britain in prestigious Wightman and Federation Cup competitions.
Talking about her decision to do the glitzy BBC show, she said: “I have always loved watching Strictly and can’t quite believe I’m going to be part of this magical show – swapping tennis balls for glitter balls and looking forward to finding some joyfulness in the process.”
