Fans are taking to social media to speculate who could take over The Queen Vic in EastEnders, after current owner Linda Carter decided to put the famous pub up for sale.
Linda’s decision to sell the pub follows the disappearance of husband Mick Carter in a dramatic clifftop fall on Christmas Day 2022 – but who could take their place behind the bar?
Many famous families have run the venue throughout the years – from the Watts to the Mitchells, with the late, great Peggy Mitchell coining the phrase, “GET OUTTA MY PUB!”

As The Queen Vic looks set to change hands once more, The Daily Star takes a look at who fans think could take over as the new owners – including the return of an Albert Square legend.
The return of Chrissie Watts
Could another member of the Watts family return to the bar when Linda sells the pub? Fans certainly seem to think so – and they already know who they want to take over.
Two Albert Square legends ran The Queen Vic alongside Dirty Den during different decades, including first wife Angie, who Den famously gave divorce papers to.
However in the noughties, Den married Chrissie Watts following his shock return – only for Chrissie to be jailed following his murder.
Fans have now predicted that Chrissie could return as The Queen Vic goes up for sale – so could she take over the pub once more?
“Never been a better time for Chrissie Watts return. All the pieces are in place for an epic showdown,” said one fan.
A second agreed: “With Janine leaving, I’m thinking I’m ready for a Chrissie Watts comeback.”
Sharon Watts
Sharon Watts is no stranger to The Queen Vic, after her parents Angie and ‘Dirty Den’ ran the pub originally when the soap first launched.
Although ownership later moved to The Mitchells, EastEnders viewers will remember that Ian Beale bought The Queen Vic for Sharon and signed the pub over to her before he departed Albert Square.
However, Max Branning later blackmailed Sharon and Phil Mitchell into selling the pub to Mick and Linda Carter.
But with Linda deciding to put the pub back on the market, could Sharon be making a return behind the bar where her family’s legacy began all those years ago?
Fans are certainly begging soap bosses to let it be so, with many calling for Sharon to become the new owner long before Mick even went missing.
“Can Sharon and Linda PLEASE run the Vic together when Mick leaves! #EastEnders,” begged one fan.
“I need Sharon and Linda running the vic permanently once Mick leaves! #Eastenders,” agreed a second.
A third penned: “Sharon and Linda running the vic the dream team #EastEnders,” while a fourth added: “Things I need from EastEnders: Sharon and Linda running the Vic together.”
Shirley Carter
Although Linda has decided to put the pub up for sale, could it remain in the hands of the Carter family?
Some fans are certainly hoping so, with some begging soap bosses for the permanent return of Mick’s mum Shirley.
Although Linda may be selling the pub, this does not mean she cannot continue to help run the venue, with one fan saying: “So Linda could stay in the Vic with Shirley and/or Alfie. I would like that.”
“I hope they let Shirley and Linda run the Vic together, and don’t just hand it back to Alfie or Phil. (Ideally Sharon would be involved too, but fool me once and all that.) #EastEnders,” added a second.
A third commented: “Hope Linda and Shirley own The Queen Vic Pub.”
“I’m hoping for Linda and Shirley. Hopefully they will continue to run the Vic together,” agreed a fourth.
The Slater family
While some fans are hoping that the pub will remain in the hands of the Carter family, others think it might be time for a change.
One viewer said: “I feel like maybe it’s time for a new family on the licensee plate.”
They have since predicted that Kat Slater could take her place behind the bar once more, with a second adding: “I’d love to see The Slaters own the Queen Vic.”
“With Mick coming out of the show don’t be surprised Kat and Alfie are back behind the Queen Vic bar soon!”, agreed a third.
Alfie Moon
After Kat and Alfie decided to stay friends rather than lovers, fans have predicted that his chemistry with Linda could lead to him taking over The Queen Vic again.
Viewers have worked out that Alfie could buy the pub and ask Linda to help him run the bar, with one saying: “Perhaps he can have a full time role in the queen vic and maybe get with Linda later in the year #EastEnders,
A second added: “Hopefully Alfie will end up Linda…And run the Vic! Kat will regret choosing Phil in the end!”
“EastEnders Now that Kat has decided to stay loyal to Phil I wonder if my original theory could come true? Could Alfie and Linda sleep together and run the bar together? We know Alfie sneaks into the pub in a few weeks. Could this lead to Linda’s return?” asked a third.
“Somehow when Mick leaves, I can see Linda struggling running the Vic and she could sell either her share of The Vic to Alfie, or she gets The Vic and lets Alfie move in and run it?” agreed fourth.
A fifth added: “I hope Alfie buys the pub and Linda helps him run it.”
