Emmerdale fans compare ITV show to Carry On film as Bernice makes raunchy suggestion

Things took a rather unexpected turn during the latest episode of Emmerdale after Bernice Blackstock made a raunchy suggestion to her love interest, Bob Hope.

On Tuesday night (July 25), Bob was left distraught when he came to the realisation that his partner Wendy Poner had been cheating on him with Liam Cavannagh.

Talking to his colleague Bernice about his situation, Bernice appeared to insinuate that he should move on with her – due to the fact that they both are clearly interested in each other.

But fans were caught off guard when Bernice asked Bob why he didn’t enter her room the night before even though he stood outside her door.

Bernice said: “I watched you outside my door, I was waiting for the knob to turn.”

Bob replied: “You watched me?”

Bernice then said: “In the shadow, lurking. Why didn’t you come in?”

But after hearing her frank comments, fans headed straight to Twitter to share their thoughts, with one writing: “Bernice using the old ‘Carry on’ knob style joke.”

Another laughed: “‘Waiting for the knob to turn’, stop it Bernice…”

A third said: “Oh dear Bob’s knob is not for turning, sorry Bernice.”

While a fourth added: “‘I was waiting for the knob to turn’, Bernice is too funny.”

Later on in the programme, Bob confronted a guilty Wendy and told her that he knows she’s been having an affair with her boss Liam.

Wendy was evidently hurt about the situation and assured Bob that she hadn’t slept with Liam during their work trip away.

However, the nurse later came clean and told Bob that she had been secretly seeing Liam for a number of months.

This later led Bob to come clean too and tell Wendy that he also had his eyes on Bernice.

Viewers at home were not moved by Wendy’s tears and told Bob he should move on.

Heading over to Twitter again, one fan wrote: “Send her off with Liam, they can move into the village shed aka love shack, Bob’s better off with Bernice.”

Another chimed: “All the fake ‘tears’ have dried up all of a sudden, when Bob revealed his yearning for another woman (a certain Bernice).”
