Emmerdale fans 'so confused' as Alex hit and run culprit revealed after flash-forward

Emmerdale viewers were left baffled at the constant time jumps during Thursday’s episode as Alex Moore was mowed down in a hit and run.

At the beginning of the episode, a bloodied Alex was lying injured in the middle of the road after being hit by an unknown person in a car.

The scene then jumped to Billy and Dawn at their court hearing, waiting to find out if they would keep custody of Dawn’s children.

The judge gave Billy and Dawn sole custody of Lucas and Clemmie since Alex never showed up – presumably because he was unable to get there as he had just been hit by a car.

The scene then jumped back however and showed viewers the events that led to the horrific accident.

After Alex robbed drugs from a pharmacy van, Charles discovered them in the boot of his car and chased him down the street.

As Alex revealed to Charles that he has debts, he punched the vicar before throwing his phone in the water, leaving him unable to call the police.

Alex was then seen on the phone to Clare but as he stepped out into the road, he was hit by an oncoming car.

The culprit was then revealed as Billy, who abruptly left the scene without calling the police.

But the shock of Billy being behind the wheel was masked by confusion, as fans couldn’t wrap their heads around the unchronological order of events.

“This flash forward part is weird. It loses the shock factor of it actually happening in my opinion,” wrote one viewer.

A second shared: “Just put # on. WTF is going on. Is this one of those stupid flash back/forward things”.

“Emmerdale seems to be rather confusing with these flashforward scenes. The storyline would make more sense with just one flash forward scene. I’m finding it hard keeping up tbh,” added another viewer.

A fourth tweeted: “I hate these flash forwards, it ruins the whole thing knowing what’s going to happen”.
