Florence Pugh was left wincing onstage after getting pelted in the face by an object while promoting her latest movie.
The British actress graced the stage with her Dune: Part Two co-stars at Comic-Con CCXP 2023 in São Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday (December 3). And it was all smiles until an object was thrown from the crowd and struck her near the right eye.
Florence, 27, visibly winced and put her hand over her face while mouthing the word “owe”, on footage of the “disgusting” episode circulating online. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler were among those crowding round the star as she bent down to inspect the unidentified projectile.

But with her usual grace and decorum, the Oppenheimer actress appeared to quickly brush off the incident and carry on with the convention. Fans online were left absolutely outraged at Florence’s treatment.

One disgruntled X/Twitter user noted how “disgusting” the mystery hurler’s behaviour was. Another furious user added: “Time to start threatening people with arrest and assault charges if they throw things at people.”
“An actor’s face is their livelihood; this kind of disrespect is deplorable,” a third added.
Florence is the latest victim of the seemingly growing trend of fans pelting celebrities on stage with objects. Earlier this year, singer Bebe Rexha was struck by a mobile phone during a New York concert, leading to her getting stitches near her eyebrow.
Fellow Brit and Florence’s Don’t Worry Darling co-star, Harry Styles, was also hit in the eye earlier this year – and has been at the receiving end of a host of flying objects in the past. Harry’s been pelted by everything from Skittles and a bouquet of flowers to a chicken nugget.
And in the summer, Adele showed her outrage at the current phenomena and had a strict warning for watchers of her Las Vegas residency show. “F***ing dare you. Dare you to throw something at me,” she said.
“Have you noticed how people are, like, forgetting f***ing show etiquette in America? They’re just throwing s**t onstage.”
