GMB hosts halt show to issue emotional goodbye to ITV co-star after 10 years

Kate Garraway issued an emotional farewell to one of her Good Morning Britain colleagues as they left the show after 15 years.

Ben Shephard, 48, and 56-year-old Kate were back at the helm of the hit ITV show on Friday (May 19).

But during the latest instalment, Ben halted the show to issue an emotional goodbye to a fellow co-star.

“We just want to say goodbye to one of the team who is leaving us,” Ben said.

“The amazing Pip Tomson, how long have you been with us Pip?”

The camera then panned to Pip, who worked as a news correspondent on the ITV show.

Looking rather flustered, she said: “I can’t speak, I didn’t know this was happening. Uhm, nearly 10 years.”

Then in a savage dig to Ben she quipped: “I’ve seen you go greyer and greyer.”

Laughter then erupted from the studio, with Kate adding: “Oh Pip we are really going to miss you, but we are excited for your new adventures.”

Pip had worked on the show for nearly 10 years

“But you’re going to be a huge loss to us at team here here and me personally.”

With tears filling up in her eyes Pip replied: “Oh it’s been an absolute joy. It’s a great family everybody is just amazing to work with.”

Kate then chimed in to say: “Oh don’t cry!”

The news correspondent has worked on Good Morning Britain since 2013, making her one of their longest-serving reporters and has been a part of several memorable moments on the ITV show.

Most notably in 2017 when she stripped off for an early morning dip live on air.

The presenter revealed that the cold weather was not putting everyone off from enjoying the outdoors.

Ben noted that Pip Tomson was taking the plunge at Cliff Lakes in Tamworth for charity and asked her: “You’re about to take your dip Pip. What have you got on?”

Reporting live from the side of the lake, Pip, who was wrapped up in a large coat, cheekily replied: “You’ll see what I’ve got on in a minute.

“Let me just say it has been snowing here but I am going to try and go in.”

Pip then stripped off to reveal her navy blue swimsuit, which she accessorised with a red float that was tied around her waist.

The presenter was momentarily left speechless as she slowly entered the water before admitting to Kate and Ben: “I want to talk to you guys but it’s so cold that I don’t think that I can.”
