Ben Shephard was left ‘in pain’ during an episode of Good Morning Britain after co-star Kate Garraway slapped him on the back.
The 48-year-old presented the ITV breakfast show alongside Kate on Friday (January 6).
But the show soon descended into chaos when Ben started suffering a coughing fit live on-air.

The awkward exchange took place after Kate and Ben spoke to First Date’s Fred Sirieix to try and suss out if he’s the Pigeon on ITV’s The Masked Singer.
Kate then attempted to imitate Fred by putting on a French accent to say “pigeon,” but it ended up with Ben choking live on air.
Clearly amused by his co-star’s joke, Ben suddenly suffered a coughing fit and couldn’t speak.
With a look of panic on her face, Kate said: “Oh it’s brilliant, every time I make him giggle he can’t speak for ten minutes.”
As Ben struggled to speak, Kate hit his back to try and clear his airways.
“Does it help when I do that?” asked Kate.
Ben shouted: “No it doesn’t!”
“Well, it helps me,” Kate cheekily and unsympathetically quipped.
Ben told her: “It just hurts.”
Fred meanwhile refused to confirm or deny whether or not he’s Pigeon on The Masked Singer.
Channel 4’s cupid Fred appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss his new Amazon show The World Cook’s.
However, the conversation quickly turned to The Masked Singer.
Fred said: “I’m not going to confirm or deny. I love pigeon, when he’s cooked nice and pink. That’s all I’m going to say.”
Host Ben later asked Fred to show off his singing voice and he belted out a French tune live on air.
The character was introduced on the show with the line: “It must be dove – it’s Pigeon!”
The reference to “dove” could perhaps be interpreted as a sign that the contestant is involved in a romance-themed piece of media, such as a dating show.
