Good Morning Britain star ‘never felt so scared’ as he reveals horrific assault

A Good Morning Britain star has revealed he was the victim of a terrifying sexual assault.

Will Njobvu, who works on the ITV show as a newscaster, spoke about his horrific experience on his Capital XTRA radio show. Njobvu bravely came out as gay last year, and confessed that the run-in had left him traumatised.

Speaking on his show, he explained that he had met the man on gay dating app Grindr. The pair agreed to go on a date together and hit it off, deciding to go back to the date’s house afterwards.

But the dream date soon turned into a nightmare for the DJ, as Will said the mood immediately began to change. He explained: “I think this is the first time in my life that I had experienced anything like this where someone was trying to be forceful with me but I was declining his advances and he was trying to do stuff.

“I’d never felt so upset and scared in my life. I didn’t have my location on so no one could find me, my friends and family didn’t know where I was and this person sexually assaulted me,” he admitted.

Njobvu opted not to go into detail about what he went through, but admitted he did not report his experiences. He did not go through with reporting the incident with the police as he was not ready to discuss his sexuality with other people at the time.

Talking to Metro, he said that the experience had been a “dirty little secret” for the broadcaster, adding: “I didn’t want to tell the police in case my family find out and they find out about my sexuality.” But despite this harrowing experience, Njobvu went to work the following day and acted as if nothing had ever happened.

Will admitted: “I was on the Jeremy Vine Show the next morning and I was crying on the way into the studio. I had to literally wash my face, put on a brave face, run into the studio, make it seem like everything was okay and in the commercial break I’d have flashbacks to the night before – I was really traumatised.”

He added that he did not disclose what happened to him to the Channel 5 host because Will’s behaviour would not signal something was wrong. He also said that he did not want to let his sexuality slip at the time, resulting in Will running to the bathroom to break down in tears.

Late last year, Will plucked up the courage to come out in a powerful video posted to TikTok, proudly stating: “I’m black, gay and proud. There, I said it.”

Njobvu said at the time that he was happy to share in his pride for being queer. He also called on other people who were struggling with sexuality and gender to “live your truth and be authentic to you.”
