In a tell-all article on BBC News, Joel opened up about an online sex scandal he faced after coming out of a two-year relationship and re-entering the dating world.

In 2015, he had met a woman called Staci on Twitter who he recalled had an “excellent looking head” and started a conversation via Twitter DMs.

Joel was then duped into having Skype sex with her, where he would perform a solo sex act which was being recorded, unbeknownst to him.

Joel took the incident in his stride and wrote a message from his penis addressing the scandal.

The tongue-in-cheek post read: “Joel was Catfished a long time ago by somebody pretending to be someone else on the internet and was lured into Skype sex.

“That Skype sex session turned out to be entirely fake and has come back to bite Joel in the a** (Joel’s A** is a good friend of mine and also features in the video),” he continued.

Taking a more serious tone, Joel later added: “It’s a genuinely horrific thing for another human being to do, to take advantage of what is private of someones life and make it public for everyone to see.”

Joel added: “It’s not very often that you get a show that’s really well-written and well-made and looks really good. It was a pleasure to work on it. I still to this day, the more known I get doing comedy, people just go, ‘I think I just saw you on Skins – what?!’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, yeah, I did that!'”

“I love that everyone is enjoying it. It’s so lovely. I think it’s so striking to watch, you change the channel and you’re like, ‘What the hell is this?’ Then five minutes later you’re completely addicted. People can’t believe they’re addicted to lunacy!” he revealed.
