ITV Voice UK’s Tom Jones asked ‘are you okay?’ by co-star as he struggles ahead of final

Things took an emotional turn during the latest episode of The Voice UK as Ann-Marie comforted Tom Jomes during the semi-final.

Judges Tom, Anne-Marie, Will.i.am and Olly Murs had the tough job of whittling down their three remaining acts who they’ve been mentoring down to one. But for Tom, 83, sending AV4C and Bianca in favour of Callum pushed him over the edge.

Tom was clearly struggling when host Emma Willis asked him who he was going to send home. Judging on who he believed was best on the night, Tom said “it had to be’ Callum” which meant Tom’s other two acts were sent home packing.

But as the acts left the stage, Anne-Marie could see that Tom was visibly upset. Going over to check on him, she asked, “are you alright”.

Upset, Tom replied: “Yeah. They were all so good.”

Elsewhere on the ITV show, Cardiff singer Jolie Stevens impressed her mentor Anne-Marie and the whole judging panel with her performance of What Now by Rhianna. Anne-Marie complimented the young Welsh singer for being “driven” and when it was announced that Jolie would be competing in this year’s final broke down in tears.

Although The Voice UK is coming to a close this year, the programme has been clouded with controversy as certain stars will not be appearing in the next series. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that judge Olly would not be returning to the show as he was cut by TV bosses.

Sharing his sentiments on his departure, Olly previously said: “I’m gutted. I got the call last week to say I won’t be back on the show, and it’s a bit of a shock, to be honest. I didn’t really expect that to come.”

The singer went on to say that he wanted to be honest with his fans regarding his exit. He also confessed that he was left feeling blindsided by his push.

A few months back, news broke that Anne-Marie will also be leaving the star-studded panel. Just like Olly, reports claim that TV bosses let her go as they wanted to replace her with someone who could draw in younger audiences.

A source told The Sun: “Anne-Marie has loved being part of the show but producers want to give the series a refresh. ITV wants to ensure that the show pulls in teens, so they are always looking at who is hot in the music world.”
