It was revealed on the show after Radzi Chinyanganya fuelled the speculation Ranvir Singh had started that Ben Shephard was actually the secret celebrity.
Radzi kept the links between Ben and Les as his top clues before the official announcement, saying on the show: “Speculation has been rife as to who it might be, and we can exclusively reveal who it is.
“This person is a long standing TV presenter with a broadcast career spanning over two decades. He is best known for presenting daytime TV and also for hosting an afternoon game show on ITV.
“His first name is one syllable and his surname has two syllables and he’s used his ninja skills to stop it from leaking.”
As Radzi continued explaining, the camera zoomed in on Ben’s face before Radzi confirmed the news would be officially announced after 8am.
Les said: “I’m thrilled to be doing this iconic wonderful show as I approach my 70th birthday! In my career I’ve always gone for challenges outside my comfort zone and this is the ultimate one! Can’t wait.”
He opened up on the show about an awkward blunder which saw him confirm the news before he quickly deleted his post on X.
Les had created a playlist of his ideal Strictly songs, with the playlist titled Strictly – Les Dennis, and when emailing it to his management, it was posted online, but swiftly removed.
He explained that his Strictly co-star will need to come on tour with him while he’s performing on 42nd street instead of the normal rehearsals in the studio.
The latest Strictly contestant will join Annabel Croft, Nigel Harman, Bobby Brazier, Jody Cundy CBE, Ellie Leach, Nikita Kanda, Adam Thomas, Zara McDermott, Angela Scanlon, Eddie Kadi, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Amanda Abbington, Angela Rippon and Layton Williams.
Strictly Come Dancing fans will be thrilled to hear the show is almost ready to return.
The show usually starts in September and will continue right through to December as we watch multiple celebrities compete and improve their moves in a bid to take home the Glitterball Trophy.
