Love Island's Will 'playing the victim' to gain sympathy as Casa Amor antics exposed

Body language expert Judi James believes Love Island’s Will Young “pitched for a sympathy response” as he played the “child-like victim” in the latest recoupling.

During Thursday night’s episode (February 16) viewers were left on the edges of their seats as the original female contestants finally returned from the infamous Casa Amor villa.

With relationships hanging in the balance, 23-year-old Will was clearly dreading having to tell his partner Jessie Wynter that he had a brief dalliance with bombshell Layla Al-Momani while she was away.

But looking at his behaviour more closely, Judi believes that Will’s emotions changed from being relaxed when he realised that bombshells were also able to speak on what took place in the main villa while the ladies were away.

Speaking to Paddy Power Bingo Judi explained that Will broke down and used “self pity” when explaining his short-lived romance with Layla in order to win the islanders and viewers over.

She said: “Will pitched for a sympathy response rather than disapproval. He sat splayed and grinning until he realised the Casa girls get a chance to speak too.

“His grin died and his head snapped round when the ‘bombshells’ were allowed to get their say about Casey, showing human emotions like sadness and anger. And Layla was the most vocal of all.

“Will used a body language behaviour called ‘pseudo-infantile’ to make his speech and it was full of self-pity and incongruent speech and gestures.”

Sharing her thoughts on his movement and speech, she added: “Will clasped his hands behind his back and spoke in a child’s voice.

“His words made him sound like the victim: ‘Tough old experience…I’ve not been myself…I’ve been 5% of me…been really tough…all new feelings…challenging few days for myself…it’s been really tough…massive struggle…really tough mentally, trying to get through that…I’m going to cry.”

Meanwhile the leading television expert in body language also noticed that no one appeared to show Jessie any remorse despite the fact that Will had kissed someone else.

Judi added: “We got some totally counter-intuitive body language displays and responses: Will sat getting all the signals of support and sympathy, including pats from Ron, a stroke from Olivia and an ‘Are you ok?’ from Casey after being outed for cheating on the very loyal and faithful Jessie. “
