The buyer who was set to purchase an original Mr Blobby costume at £62,000 has reportedly pulled out of the sale.
Last week, an eBay auction for the famous item, which is more than 25 years old attracted interest from a number of buyers.
The television memorabilia sold for £62,101 in the online sale, but according to recent reports the buyer decided to withdraw their offer within an hour of placing the humungous bid.
Talking to the BBC, the anonymous seller said they were “shocked” by the amount the costume was going for on auction.

They said: “I thought it would get to a level of £100 perhaps – and so I was shocked really that it reached the level it did.
“I think it was one of those things that was driven by social media.”
The original Mr Blobby outfit was made by the BBC’s costume supplier and was going to be used for the TV show Noel’s House Party but the programme, which was originally hosted by Noel Edmonds, was cancelled before it could be delivered.
Noel’s House Party ran from 1991 to 1999 and was a BAFTA-winning light entertainment show.
Before the Mr Blobby costume went on offer, the seller did say that the costume was in need of a new home after they claimed that neither the BBC nor their production team wanted it.
And due to its age, the costume was also in need of attention as one of the plastic eyes are currently cracked.
Although eBay’s terms and conditions do state that after a buyer has won an auction it means they must be committed to the purchase, it cannot enforce this rule by law.
According to reports from the BBC, the seller who owns the Mr Blobby costume has decided to keep hold of it for the time being.
The seller said: “Ironically, it was being sold not to make money but to make space.”
While reflecting on the money, the seller added that they don’t think they could “lose something” they never had.
