BBC viewers seem to believe Ofcom will have a “field day” following a joke Naga Munchetty read while appearing on the annual Red Nose Day show.
Comic Relief returned to screens on Friday evening, offering fans laughter while highlighting the importance of donating to the charitable event.
In one of the many skits that featured on the show, TV broadcasters from, ITV, the BBC, Talk TV, Channel 4 and Sky were tasked with reading a joke aloud while in the comfort of their news studios.

Chiming in on the fun, BBC Breakfast star Naga read the joke to her co-host Charlie Stayt and said: “I went to the zoo the other day, there was only one dog in it. It was a Shih Tzu.”
However to Charlie’s surprise and amusement, Naga didn’t seem to understand what the joke meant.
Trying to figure it out, she repeated the words “Shih Tzu” and finally laughed out loud once she understood the jibe.
But fans thought Naga could possibly be in trouble as the name of the popular dog sounded like something rather rude.
Heading straight over to Twitter, viewers shared their thoughts.
One social media user chimed: “Oop a kind of swear word before 9pm, Ofcom is gonna have a field day with complaints lmao.”
While another joked: “Naga not getting the shih tzu joke,” followed by several laughing emojis.
For this year’s annual telethon, hosts David Tennant, AJ Odudu, Joel Dommett, Zoe Ball and Paddy McGuinness took the reins as the hosted the charity event.
The programme received mixed reviews from spectators as they tuned in to watch the hilarious but often emotional scenes.
Sharing their opinion on the overall show on Twitter, one viewer said: “Mo Farrah, The Traitors, Ghost & Mrs Doubtfire were the moments that stuck w/ me from this years #ComicRelief. Big up to David Tennant & all the host (particularly AJ Odudu). Here’s hoping she’s taken off her dress, restored her circulation & uncrossed her legs.”
While another wrote: “That Dawn French ‘The Traitors’ sketch is a gem in a sea of quite bland mediocrity. Probably because it actually features comics, like Dawn. Also featuring many recognisable stars, like these telethons used to do.”
