Piers Morgan branded 'cruel' as fans fume over 'misogynistic' Madonna comments

Piers Morgan has come under fire for scathing comments he made about Madonna ahead of her 40th anniversary tour.

The former Good Morning Britain host, 64, was branded “obsessive” and “cruel” by critics after he ripped into her on his TalkTV show.

Before broadcast, he tweeted: “I think Madonna’s become the biggest cringe-making fiasco in world entertainment.”

And Piers didn’t hold back on his chat show either as he called the Queen of Pop a “hot mess” who “should be put out to pasture”.

He also slammed the superstar for “the whole trying to be a sex kitten thing when you’re in your 60s.”

He then showed a series of saucy snaps Madonna had shared on social media, one of which exposed the singer’s bare bottom.

Piers claimed the singer had hit “rock bottom” and that she should do her arena tour form the comfort of a rocking chair.

But fans flocked to Twitter to criticise Piers for his remarks, with one tweeting to him: “apologise for your misogynistic remarks about Madonna tonight calling her a “sweaty mess”‘

Another said: “I think this is unnecessarily cruel and I would like to think Madonna is a bigger person than to care for such drivel.”

A third wrote: “he’s the icon. You’re the tragic one, obsessed with her.”

Another added: “She is an icon & the biggest selling female artist of all time, 335 million records sold worldwide. You’re a nasty judgemental individual.”

Somebody else asked: “Would you say that about Mick Jagger or Rod Stewart etc…”, but Piers insisted he would say the same about male performers.

Madonna had revealed her tour news with an Instagram video showing her playing truth or dare with pals – a nod to her 1991 film Truth or Dare.
