Meghan Markle and Prince Harry didn’t realise how far down they’d be in the Hollywood pecking order, TV presenter Nick Ide has suggested.
The broadcaster claims he was pals with the Duchess of Sussex years before she met Prince Harry, but they fell out of touch when the former Suits star met the royal.
Nick said that Harry and Meghan’s reputation in LA has changed and that royal titles don’t carry the same prestige in Hollywood, and instead it’s stars like J.Lo and the Kardashians ruling the roost.

He told the Express: “I think the thing is that you forget that in Hollywood royalty isn’t somebody with a title. It’s J.Lo, it’s Sharon Stone, it’s Beyonce, it’s the Kardashians. That’s their royalty.
“And also the Obamas or Clintons. If you’ve been in office, apart from Trump, then you’re seen as being a top dog. I think they have underestimated that in many ways.
He added: “I think they came in and thought that the number one people on the block and they’re not really.
“They’re kind of quite far down really in that pecking order. And I think that’s been an issue with them, in that sense of stepping down.”
The royal expert alleged that he became friends with Meghan after asking her to host the London Global Gift Gala at the ME Hotel on November 2013.
Nick, the presenter of The Royal Box for Yahoo!, said he had a “really nice” and fun few years with Meghan before they drifted from each-other.
Harry and Meghan moved to Los Angeles in March 2020 after stepping down as working royals at the start of the year.
Harry recently released his record-breaking memoir Spare, which has become the fastest-selling nonfiction book of all time, selling 887k copies on release day.
