Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have responded to Jeremy Clarkson’s latest apology to the royal couple with their own statement.
Earlier this month, the former Top Gear host, 62, revealed he emailed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to apologise for his controversial column.
In a lengthy statement which he shared on Instagram, the TV presenter said he was “really sorry” for what he wrote all the way “from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head”.

The dad-of-three claimed he had reached out to the couple on Christmas Day after his since-deleted column was published both in print and online.
Now, Harry and Meghan have responded to Jeremy’s latest statement with their own and denied that the he had reached out to Meghan – claiming the TV star only contacted Harry.
The statement on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reads: “On December 25 2022, Mr Clarkson wrote solely to Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex.
“The contents of his correspondence were marked Private and Confidential.
“While a new public apology has been issued today by Mr Clarkson, what remains to be addressed is his long standing pattern of writing articles that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories and misogyny.”
It continues: “Unless each of his other pieces were also written ‘in a hurry’ as he states, it is clear that this is not an isolated incident shared in haste, but rather a series of articles shared in hate.”
It comes after Amazon is reported to have dropped the star further than the seasons of The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm which have already been commissioned.
On Monday (January 16), sources told Variety that his tenure at the streaming service will not reach beyond 2023.
The show currently in the works will still go ahead, with Clarkson’s Farm ending after series three next year.
Furthermore, an ITV boss has slammed the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host despite stating that they won’t fire him over the cruel remarks.
Speaking at the Broadcasting Press Guild lunch, Kevin Lygo said: “It was awful what he said and I think even he has now acknowledged that.
“He should apologise. I don’t know what he was thinking when he wrote that.”
The backlash came after the car fanatic wrote in The Sun last month about how much he hates the former Suits star, adding that he loathes her “on a cellular level” and wants her to be “paraded naked through the streets”.
Clarkson explained in his since-deleted column how he “dreams of people throwing lumps of excrement at her” despite never meeting the royal.
The Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) received more than 200,000 complaints about the piece which has since broken the record for the most complained about article ever.
In response to the article, IPSO shared a statement which read: “We will follow our usual processes to examine the complaints we have received. This will take longer than usual because of the volume of complaints.”

Just days after the backlash, Jeremy shared a statement on Twitter in which he admitted he had “rather put his foot in it”.
He tweeted: “Oh dear, I’ve rather put my foot in it.
“In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people.
“I’m horrified to have caused so much hurt and I shall be more careful in future.”
