Sky News interrupted their broadcast live from Israel to announce Holly Willoughby had quit This Morning, leaving fans furious.
Mark Austin was stationed in Jerusalem following the terrorist attacks by Hamas fighters who have killed thousands of Israeli’s. The 64-year-old told viewers: “Let’s get some news away from here now and it is breaking news. The presenter Holly Willoughby has told ITV that she will not return to host This Morning.
“She has not returned to the show since a man was charged last week with an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her.” He then handed back to Shamaan Freeman-Powell in their London studio, who continued talking about the 42-year-old’s resignation.

Fans fumed over the decision and headed straight to X, formerly known as Twitter, to slam the organisation. “Shameful editorial decision, Sky News,” wrote one seething viewer.
Another asked: “You’re reporting from a war zone and this is the story?” A third agreed: “I have to laugh that SkyNews has Jerusalem as it’s backdrop, an area where people are dying in large numbers, only to talk about Holly leaving This Morning.”
“How ignorant,” simply declared someone else. While another fumed: “Omg shame on you , there is people dying in Israel and Ukraine etc and of cancer, shooting , stabbings and your focused on a story of a woman that doesn’t need any more publicity.”
Earlier this evening, Holly announced she had quit This Morning after 14 years on the ITV daytime show. Her departure comes after a 36-year-old man was charged with soliciting to commit murder over an alleged plot to kidnap her.
Sharing the news with her eight million followers on Instagram, she wrote: “I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning. To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so, so much.
“This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together. Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.”
The mum-of-three continued: “Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day. Richard and Judy said, ‘We only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers’. It’s been an honour to just be part of it’s story and I know this story has many chapters left to go.”
