Daily Star caught up with cast members to discuss secret kisses, unlikely romances, reliving emotional scenes and the secret behind the show’s soaring success.

Show shake-up

TOWIE headed to Thailand mid-way through the 31st series and there’s been plenty of drama so far

TOWIE is known for taking their cast to film the opening episodes of the series to exotic locations across the globe but this year saw them kick off the latest season in Essex.

However, it wasn’t long before the girls and boys packed their bags and jetted to Thailand for a whopping 20 days.

Opening up filming the current series, Chloe Brockett said: “It was good and really fun. It was different because we went away mid-way through the series.

The cast were in Thailand for 20 days

“Normally we go away at the start but I liked this because we’d already been around each other, drama at already started bubbling.

“It was just fireworks all the time.”

Chloe’s co-star Juniaid Ahmed added: “It’s definitely one of the most explosive series of TOWIE.”

While Harry Derbidge agreed: “The most drama out of this series hasn’t even been shown yet. There’s a lot more to come.”

Tears

Junaid was seen breaking down in tears to pal Harry before the Thailand trip

Before heading off to Thailand, Junaid was seen breaking down in tears to pal Harry as he opened up about the struggles he’s faced in the past.

Junaid told Daily Star: “”For me I’ve shown a different side this series. My first season of TOWIE was dramatic and me being a bit of a b***h and as much as I am one, I’m also a nice person deep down.

“It’s nice for people to see that side of me and me opening up about my past and what I’ve been through.

“The scene I filmed with Harry was really emotional at the time and I think time has gone on and I’m stronger as a person so I’ve let go the skeletons in my closet and just being myself now.

“Watching it back on TV was really emotional but I’m overwhelmed with the messages I’ve had and the support has been so lovely.”

Kissing co-stars

Chloe Brockett and Roman Hackett shared a smooch but later denied it

While being away from Essex, a few cast members ended up sharing cheeky snogs.

It has already been confirmed on the show that Chloe B shared a smooch with Roman Hackett, but he denied it to his on-off love interest Dani Imbert.

Speaking about the situation, Chloe B explained: “I was so confused because we did kiss and he said it on camera.

“I just think maybe he’s a young boy that’s got caught up in his actions, decided to deny it but forgot there was a camera following us.”

Unlikely romance

Chloe B and Roman were not the only ones to grow closer in Thailand as close friends Harry and Junaid also took their friendship to the next level.

Spilling the tea, Harry said: “Me and Junaid had a night out, Junaid had fallen out with all the girls and I was obviously in the middle of all of it.

“Junaid thought it was a bit more friendly then what it was and he possibly could have gone in after a couple of drinks. We’re obviously close friends but we explore an avenue.”

Cast ‘feud’

Amber Turner condemned Chloe over her behaviour in recent scenes

Recent scenes showed Amber Turner approach Chloe B to condemn her recently behaviour.

Chloe has since revealed that she was “oblivious” to her pal’s thoughts about her and only found about what was being said when she watched the scenes back last week.

She said: “I think you could see when she walked over, I was quite oblivious and I didn’t know what was being said about me.

“I only found out last week what was being said and these strong opinions some of the cast members had but things aren’t the same as what they used to be and I think it’s obvious to see.

“No hatred there but in a load of friendships there’s a lot of ups and downs ands blips and my age is mentioned quite frequently but if you look at their friendship group when they were 22 , are they friends with the people they were friends with? No, so maybe I won’t be friends with them in the future.”

“There’s honesty been no more arguments since the show ended but you need to watch the finale. It’s no secret that we’re not close as we used to be.”

Secret behind show’s success

TOWIE has been on our screens for 13 years

TOWIE first exploded onto our television screens back in 2010 and is still going strong 13 years later but what is the secret behind the show’s success?

Chloe B said: “I think new shows try to push the boundaries and want to talk about sex and be grotesque but with TOWIE it’s remained traditional.

“We talk about hooking up and stuff but we never push the boundaries and I think people feel it’s their comfort series.”

“It’s family orientated but its still got drama and us dressing up and going to places where people want to go and I think that’s what had kept it relevant.

Harry continued: “I feel like someone can also relate to the cast members like Amy [Childs] is a mum and Junaid has opened up about something really personal.”
