Awkward Strictly moment sees Katya Jones ‘push’ partner’s hand – as pair apologise

Viewers of last night’s Strictly Come Dancing were gobsmacked as they witnessed what appeared to be Katya Jones pushing her dance partner away – before the pair spoke out about the incident.

The awkward moment occurred when Wynne Evans placed his arm around Katya’s waist, during a group interaction on the live show. Katya, 35, seemed less than impressed by the 52-year-old’s manoeuvre as his hand crept across her body, and swiftly appeared to move it back.

Eagle-eyed fans didn’t miss a beat and immediately took to social media to discuss the uncomfortable encounter. One fan tweeted: “Anyone else see Katya push wynne’s hand away.”

“It was a silly joke,” as Wynne added: “Yes sorry”.

Wynne then added in the caption: “Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around. We really are amazing friends. The high 5’s is a running joke. Have a great evening @katyajones”.

In another awkward moment, the professional dancer seemed to ignore her celebrity partner’s effort for a high five after Sam Quek and Nikita Kumzin’s performance.

With her hands stretched out, Katya appeared to intentionally turn away from her partner rather than reciprocating the gesture. Following the concerns raised by observant viewers on social media, the duo took to Instagram to clarify the situation.

However, the pair only appeared to address the high-five fail, claiming it was a “running joke”. between them.

But audience members were keen to hear the rest of the story.

One wrote: “Sorry guys how is that a joke? Ok the refusal to do the high five and the eye roll, yep get that, but the hand slowly moving across Katya’s stomach, and her moving it away and looking seriously uncomfortable?? How is that a “joke”

While a third wrote: “Hmmm…crap excuse for the High 5’s, but the wandering hand and subsequent reaction is definitely not a “joke” imo.”

However, despite the peculiar moment, Katya and Wynne mesmerised the judges with their slick tango performance to ABBA’s ‘Money, Money, Money’. The ever-blunt Craig Revel Horwood dished out some of his signature snark but conceded: “You bum was sticking up – but I loved, loved, loved it. Winner, winner, win.”, reports Birmingham Live.
