Simon King stepped in to replace Matt Taylor, who had been covering for Carol Kirkwood during her break.
The weatherman made a rare appearance on BBC Breakfast on Friday, joining regular hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt.
As Simon wrapped up his weekend weather forecast, Naga remarked: “It’s not looking too bad?” To which Simon replied, “Yeah, I mean it’s not bad, it’s not cool…” Naga then interjected with a playful comment: “It’s just not cool, Simon, it’s just not cool.”
Simon laughed and asked: “I’m not cool or you’re not cool? Or it’s not cool? ” Charlie quickly changed the subject, asking: “Simon have you got a favourite beach in the UK? ” as reported by the Express.
“Yes, I have,” Simon answered. “It is called the Quarry. On a beautiful sunny day, warm weather, it is clear. It is absolutely stunning, lovely sand.”
Charlie responded: “That does sound like you’re fearful it’s going to get incredibly busy as you have put it even more on the map.”
Naga added: “There is a lot of competition though, there are a lot of beautiful places in the UK, can you imagine trying to judge them?”
In March, a hilarious spectacle unfolded on BBC Breakfast when Simon was hilariously hoisted out of the studio by Gladiators stars Fire and Steel. The muscular duo were guests on the show discussing the upcoming semi-final of Gladiators hosted by Bradley and Barney Walsh.
Clearly amused, Simon conceded with a laugh: “Oh dear, I feel rather inadequate now.”
In a delightful twist, Charlie seized the chance to jest at their colleague’s expense, heartily announcing: “Simon’s been struggling with the logistics of how to get on and off the studio floor today. I don’t know, can you help him with that at all? ” To which Steel offered in jest, “I could just pick him up and we can go?”
BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
