BBC Breakfast’s Nina Warhurst recalled bumping into Charlie Stayt outside of work during the latest episode of the morning show.
The 43-year-old newsreader stepped in for regular presenter Naga Munchetty on Thursday (May 16) morning and appeared on the famous red sofa alongside Charlie.
They woke up the nation with the latest news including a segment on petrol prices and Nina brought up the moment she saw Charlie searching for cheaper gas.

Nina told her co-star: “Charlie, I remember bumping into you somewhere outside in real life when you were doing a bit of shopping around for cheap petrol.” A visibly shocked Charlie said: “Really?” Nina continued: “Yeah.”
Charlie added: “I don’t remember that at all. By the way, this is real what we’re doing now.” A giggling Nina said: “I meant not on TV and not in news world. Out and about but obviously it wasn’t that memorable for you.” After an brief moment of awkward silence, they quickly moved on to the next section of the show.
It comes after Nina announced she’s taking a break from social media as she has “never had so many plates to spin” and her baby daughter needs her full attention. She returned to the show in January after being away on maternity leave. Nina, 43, has admitted she feels too busy for Instagram because she’s looking after her little girl, Nancy, with her husband Ed Fraser.
She made one last post on March 29 to say goodbye for a bit. The TV star told her followers goodbye with a cute photo of her carrying her baby in the kitchen. She wrote: “Signing off from Insta for a few weeks. I *love* this site. I don’t take myself, or the apparently perfect lives of others, too seriously.
“I howl laughing every day from a scarily accurate meme. I connect with lovely people who I don’t get to see IRL. And there are loads of cats and babies.” Nina added: “Maybe I love it too much… Because I’ve found myself scrolling all. The. Time. Catching up on people’s stories, having a nosey at how people live who have nothing to do with me, and (the absolute grossest) checking for likes… Enough is enough. “I’ve never had so many plates to spin, and this little chick needs my full attention more often. See you soon x x x x.”
