BBC Breakfast viewers ‘in tears’ over Carol Kirkwood’s ‘depressing’ announcement

BBC Breakfast fans were gutted by Carol Kirkwood’s announcement.

The 62-year-old presenter has been delighting viewers with her weather updates for over two decades. However, she was forced to disappoint her fans on Thursday (August 8) with her latest forecasts.

She took to X, formerly Twitter, with an image of a chart showing the latest conditions across the UK. It was good news for those in London as they were in for warm temperatures from Sunday to Wednesday, with highs of 31 degrees.

However, those in Edinburgh were not so lucky as temperatures were to reach no higher than 20 degrees, with rain every day until Wednesday. Carol wrote: “This chart shows how temperatures are set to rise on Sunday and Monday across England and Wales.

“The hottest weather will be in SE England. It will be fairly short lived. Scotland and N Ireland seeing temperatures around normal for this time of year @BBCBreakfast xxx.”

Some of Carol’s fans were devastated by the rainy forecast. One wrote: “”Those are depressing temps for Scotland & N Ireland & if those are “normal” for summer,” alongside a crying emoji.

A second agreed: “A good excuse to hibernate.” But others were happier about it, with one writing: “It looks like it’s going to be wonderful down here in the south and south east”.

Carol recently hit back at anyone criticising the age gap between her and husband Steve Randall, whom she married last year and is 13 years her junior. In a new interview, she “doesn’t care” if people make comments about their age gap.

She told Yours magazine: “We’ve moved on from the days when he might be described as my toy boy or me being called a cougar. If our ages were the other way around, nobody would ever mention it.”

She continued: “I’ve had a few comments [about our ages] but I don’t care. We’re happy together and that’s all that matters. Also, I think that, as you get older, it matters less. The gap shrinks. If I was 40 and he was 20, it would be a different matter.”
