A BBC News star has decided to leave after two decades on screens.
Tulip Mazumdar, the BBC’s Global Health Correspondent, has decided to quit her role after being with the broadcaster for years. She announced she was stepping away as it was “time for change”.
Tulip revealed her exit on X, formerly Twitter, where she explained she was looking forward to spending more time with her family. She posted a photo of her two children playing at a farm.

She wrote: “I will be leaving @BBCNews at the end of this week. I’ve had the most incredible two decades, but it’s time for a change, and to hang more with these two rascals….Thanks so much to everyone who trusted me to help share their, often very personal, stories.
She added: “Together, I do think we’ve made a difference.” Her colleagues rushed to support her decision in the replies. The BBC’s Deputy Africa Editor, Anne Soy, said: “Oh, Tulip! How wonderful to have met and worked with you. Wishing you the very best in your next chapter.”
Fellow BBC star Alan Kasujja said: “Best wishes Tulip. It was a pleasure working with you.”
She’s not the first BBC presenter to announce they’re walking away from the channel in the last few days. Aaron Heslehurst, who has also been with the BBC for over 20 years, revealed his exit.
He wrote on X: “”I guess it’s time to share something with you. This week will be my very last show at the BBC.”
“After 30yrs in TV news and 22.5 of them at the BBC, it’s time to close this chapter! For those who’ve enjoyed my shows over the years, I say THANK YOU. It’s been an honour and a privilege.”
Originally hailing from Australia, Aaron has been a staple on BBC business news since 2002, presenting across all their television channels. His journalism journey began as a news reporter for Prime Television/Seven Network in Sydney and Canberra.
