BBC presenter halts Olympic coverage to make announcement after broadcast interrupted

Fans tuning into the BBC’s coverage of the Olympic Games 2024 were left bewildered when the programme was unexpectedly gatecrashed by window washers.

Those glued to their screens for the Paris 2024 spectacle on Saturday witnessed host Hazel Irvine and expert Tonia Couch chatting about the diving competitions when two blokes rocked up outside.

Quick-witted Hazel cracked a gag about the unexpected interruption, quipping: “Can you see this behind me? Because we’ve got two gentlemen fixing our studio. I don’t think they know they’re on telly at the moment,” reports the Mirror.

The duo carried on with their cleaning, blissfully unaware that they were photobombing the live feed, leaving viewers to dash off to Twitter to share their amusement. The cheeky chaps became the talk of the town as social media buzzed with banter about the “new event” causing a stir online.

One amused spectator tweeted: “Live Olympic window cleaning on the BBC! ” Another chimed in with: “Window cleaners have just turned up on the BBC coverage.”

A third shared: “Just a casual bit of window cleaning in the middle of the BBC coverage.”

Someone else observed: “The rain is still TIPPING down in Paris. And now the BBC has had to get the window cleaners in whilst they’re on air.”

Another joker added: “I didn’t know window cleaning now qualified as an Olympic sport.”

GB News anchorman Martin Daubney endured another cringeworthy debacle following the opening score of his news hour earlier this week.

In a move that left fans unimpressed, BBC producers opted for green screen technology to fabricate a backdrop for an early morning chat show presented by Jeanette Kwakye, featuring guests JJ Chalmers and Fred Sirieix.

Much to the confusion of viewers, a digitally created courtyard in the city was employed as their discussion background. Fans swiftly expressed their disapproval of the set-up, considering the production is situated in the heart of Paris, with a studio boasting views of the legendary Eiffel Tower.

A disgruntled viewer vented their frustrations online: “This green screen stuff is horrific. Stop it. You’ve got a studio in Paris looking at the Eiffel Tower ffs.” (sic)
