Ben Shephard, who recently made his debut on ITV’s This Morning alongside Cat Deeley, has thanked fans for their ‘lovely messages’ while sharing a worrying quip on Instagram.
The pair took over from Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who left the show last year.To mark their first week, Ben shared fun photos from the show on social media. The snaps included famous guests like Sir Rod Stewart and Jools Holland, who joined them for a laugh on the sofa. Ben said they spent most of the time laughing and eating delicious food.
He joked: “I’m now fasting over the weekend to make room for more next week!!” But Ben’s announcement came with a worrying sign-off, as he ended his post by saying, “Thank you for all your lovely messages. See you Monday I hope!” – throwing doubt on his show future.

Cat also shared her excitement, saying it was “so fun”. She revealed she would be trying out a steak recipe inspired by guest chef Donal Skehan.
Among those sending well wishes was Susanna Reid, Ben’s former co-host on Good Morning Britain. She congratulated the pair, saying: “Fabulous week well done you and @catdeeley.” One fan posted their appreciation under a picture on Shephard’s Instagram saying, “Brilliant first week , keep up the good work Ben and Cat,” and another added: “Loved watching you both this week.”
However, some were less impressed with the new team. One commented: “Think Kate [Garraway] with yourself would be better and you know each other so well,” and another critiqued: “Love you Ben, but Cat is just not suited to This Morning, Josie or Alison or even better Kate Garraway.”
Just a little while ago, Deeley thanked the This Morning crew for an “incredible first week”. She also praised Shephard, calling him the “perfect co-pilot on this already joyous new journey”.
Shephard is known for being the host of ITV’s quiz show Tipping Point and used to share hosting duties on Good Morning Britain. He said goodbye to GMB in February to lead This Morning, a show he’s filled in for Schofield before.
Deeley became a household name as presenter of ITV’s Saturday morning kids’ show SM:TV Live, working alongside Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. She also hosted its music show CD:UK that featured Willoughby. Furthermore, she presented ITV’s Stars In Their Eyes, the BBC’s Fame Academy, and American competition series So You Think You Can Dance for more than a decade.

Over the past year, This Morning has welcomed a variety of presenters to its renowned sofa. This includes Deeley, who hosted alongside Rylan Clark back in November.
In May 2023, Schofield left ITV and was let go by his talent agency following his admission of an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a younger male colleague. Meanwhile, Willoughby bid the show farewell in October, explaining that she had made this “decision for me and my family.”
