Britain’s Got Talent fix storm as former finalist returns under new name and wows judges

Britain’s Got Talent has been branded a “fix” by viewers.

Contestant Lucy Heath returned to the stage on Saturday (April 20) night to perform for the judges eight years after she made it all the way to the grand final of the ITV competition as a wildcard.

Judge Simon Cowell recognised Lucy from her 2016 stint and she later explained that she’s back for another go at winning the £250,000 prize fund and a spot in the Royal Variety Performance later this year under the name, The Trickstars.

However, this time Lucy was joined by some of her other dogs as well as dancing dog Trip Hazard, who she came in seventh place with when she first appeared on the show. After she performed her excellent routine, Simon and the rest of his fellow judges were blown away and she sailed through to the next round.

Simon, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli may have enjoyed the performance but some disgruntled viewers at home all shared the same complaint. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “If you get on the live shows… you shouldn’t be allowed back on the show.” Another added: “She’s already been on the show??? Shouldn’t be allowed back!!!”

A third person said: “A finalist is aloud to audition again….. s**t show #BGT.” Since finding fame on BGT, Lucy has gone on to achieve incredible things. A fourth social media user said: “Why is she allowed back on when she made it to the final in 2016?! Sorry but this show is an absolute joke nowadays.. they 100% invited her back on… #bgt.” From appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show to starring in crime series Pennyworth and training dogs for Bridgerton, she has experienced it all.

Sharing her career highlights, Lucy previously told The Mirror: “It really is my dream job. I’m not rich from doing any of it but I’m able to do what I love for a living and be comfortable. There’s nothing else I’d rather do.”

In 2012, Lucy won ITV’s That Dog Can Dance with her border collie Indie. The TV show kickstarted her entire career and she was later scouted for Britain’s Got Talent in 2016.

“Britain’s Got Talent was one of the proudest moments of my life,” Lucy said. Also high up there is ranking second place at Crufts with Indie, which Lucy said was a “magical” moment. She also got a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of Netflix’s Bridgerton in 2019.

The professional dog trainer was tasked with handling six Pomeranians for the roles of Queen Charlotte’s pets. “I borrowed the dogs from the breeder of Trip and Dizzy, all six of them were pedigree Pomeranians,” Lucy said. “I didn’t have to train them to do any tricks, it was mostly to sit still and stay on set.” Lucy’s dog Trip has featured in a John Lewis Christmas ad and starred in Pennyworth and Ted Lasso.

Britain’s Got Talent continues Sunday on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.40pm
