Channel 4 has blasted fellow channel ITV for its broadcasts of Big Brother in a scathing dig.
The new series of the revived reality titan kicks off on Monday (March 4) and will see a variety of famous faces walk into the House. But in a post on social media, Channel 4 decided to let their feelings be known on what they thought of the move.
Taking to their Threads account, Channel 4 uploaded two pictures to their profile with the caption: “Big Brother on Channel 4 vs Big Brother on ITV.” The pictures they used were of the AI-generated idea of lollipop wonderland and the less than joyful reality.

The pictures the broadcaster used were of the viral sensation of Willy Wonka Land, an event that left loads of paying customers in Glasgow fuming over the weekend. What had been promised as an immersive experience with freebies eventually turned out to be a disappointing run through an abandoned warehouse with very few positives.
However, despite the scathing comparison Channel 4 made between the two versions, ITV were quick to retort. Taking to the comments section, the channel hit back: “We get it guys, your shows aren’t getting views so you have to talk about us,” followed by a winking emoji.
Big Brother became Channel 4’s biggest show during the 10-year stay it had on the broadcaster, reaching highs of almost 10million viewers a night at its peak. However, in 2010, the series was cancelled and instead picked up by Channel 5, which brought the show back one year later.
Channel 5 continued to run the show until 2018, when the contract expired and the original house was eventually torn down. However, the show returned to our screens last October, with the programme now finding its new home on ITV, with a brand new house in Harlesden in North London.
It comes as the final line-up for this year’s celebrity competition has reportedly been “confirmed” ahead of the show’s launch on Monday. The Sun dropped what it claimed to be the full line-up, which is said to include X Factor duo Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh, as well as a variety of other famous faces including Love Island star Ekin-Su Cülcüloglu and Strictly star Nikita Kuzmin.
The show is set to last for three weeks, and the public will be able to vote for their favourite housemate, with the celeb with the lowest number of votes being given the boot. ITV has yet to address the rumoured list of participants, and has neither confirmed nor denied any of the celebrities said to be going into the house.
Celebrity Big Brother kicks off on Monday (March 4) at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
