Jeremy Clarkson’s local councillor says he is quitting because fans of Clarkson’s Farm keep sending him death threats.
Dean Temple, 46, is the sole representative for the Chadlington and Churchill ward – which covers Diddly Squat Farm – on West Oxfordshire District Council. The authority is featured heavily on Clarkson’s Farm, which starts its third series on Friday, with the TV star constantly criticising it for blocking his plans.
Cllr Temple said that when he decided to stand he was told the ward was a “nice quiet place where nothing ever happens”. But as soon as Clarkson started having digs at the council on-air it all changed.

The politician said: “All of a sudden I was getting calls, death threats from all over the world.” Cllr Temple is standing down and seeking election in nearby Witney in tomorrow’s local poll.
Asked if Clarkson’s Farm had anything to do with his decision, he said: “One hundred per cent.” He claimed Jezza had engineered “battles” with the council to make “good telly”. Clarkson was approached for comment
This comes after Jeremy claimed his farm was being invaded by “18 billion slugs”. The Clarkson’s Farm star owns a share in Cotswold brewery and said it had been besieged by an army of slimy critters eyeing up his barley.
He revealed he had to “pepper the field with slug pellets”. Jeremy, 64, said: “If I adopt a live-and-let-live rewilding attitude and do nothing they will eat the lot. And, next year, there will be no Hawkstone lager.
“I therefore have to pepper the field with slug pellets which will kill them. Great. But these pellets will also kill all the worms. So what’s the answer?”
