Coleen Nolan has admitted that she “can’t stop crying” as her daughter Ciara has decided to go travelling.
The Loose Women star revealed on the ITV show that her 22 year old daughter and her boyfriend have booked a one-way ticket out of the UK. The pair had been planning the trip for two years and it’s not yet known when they’ll return.
Coleen opened up to co-stars Ruth Langsford, Janet Street-Porter and Linda Robson about empty nest syndrome. She said: “They’ve worked really hard and saved up and I’m so proud of them both and her, but honestly, I just can’t stop crying.”

The mum-of-three continued: “But I’m trying not to do it in front of her because I’m thrilled and I’m proud because what an amazing thing to do. But it’s like losing my best friend.”
Ruth teased Coleen that she will find it particularly difficult as Ciara helps “run her life”. Coleen agreed, adding: “She is the mother of the house. My son text me the other day and went, ‘This is going to do you good mum because you need to grow up’.”
The singer and Loose Women star explained that Ciara helps her out around the house and does a lot of the cooking, helping to ease the pressure at home. “It’s just very stressful,” she said, adding: “Empty nest syndrome is real.”
Janet told her: “Just speaking for her, she’s got to be allowed to live her own life.” Coleen answered back: “Oh she is being allowed. I don’t have to like it, Janet,” and Janet replied sharply: “I know you don’t like it but you have got to grow up a bit Coleen. I never thought I’d say those words. But you have got to manage by yourself.”
Coleen’s daughter Ciara moved out last October, and it’s been tough for the singer who loved having her kids close. A friend told New! magazine: “Coleen has always tried to be a hands-on mum, even when she and her sisters were touring during The Nolans’ heyday, she always wanted them around. She even toured while she was pregnant with Jake.”
Now, Coleen’s big family home feels really quiet without her kids. But she’s not the only one feeling this way. Her nephew Danny, Maureen’s boy, has gone to live in America with his family. So, Coleen and Maureen are both missing their families, but they’ll help each other out, no matter how busy they get.
