Coronation Street newcomer Rowan’s real motive revealed as he’s caught out by Toyah

Autovalent Institute leader Rowan Cunliffe has been caught out.

During Wednesday’s (April 10) episode of the ITV soap Coronation Street Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) catches Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) with her eyes closed and explains that she’s ‘reality coding’ in an attempt to eliminate the unexpected.

Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) tells Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) that Rowan Cunliffe’s (Emrhys Cooper) leaving for the States and she’ll be glad to see the back of him as she’s sick of listening to his “reality coding” nonsense.

As Rowan checks out of the hotel, a breathless Toyah arrives and quizzes him about the Autovalent Institute her sister Leanne is currently obsessed with. As Rowan spouts his reality coding drivel, Toyah reveals that she’s a trained counsellor and suggests that what he’s doing is harmful.

Toyah later warns Nick that Rowan is a fraud who preys on vulnerable people and he needs to nip Leanne’s obsession with the Autovalent Institute in the bud before they take all her money. Leanne and her son Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) have both been taken in by the leader’s charm, but the same can’t be said for concerned Toyah.

Nick insists that it’s mere pennies, though Toyah isn’t so sure, revealing that Rowan seemed to have some quite expensive luggage with him. A concerned Nick checks their bank accounts and learns that Leanne has transferred £400 to The Institute. Toyah was horrified to find out Leanne had spent so much money on “absolutely nothing” and urged Nick to do something about it.

She warned her brother-in-law to put a stop to things before they got out of control and Nick appeared just as worried as she is. Will Toyah be able to stop Leanne from falling further into the clutches of the sinister cult, or could her interference ruin their relationship for good?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
