Millie Gibson has been snapped filming in her first gig after her departure from Doctor Who.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that the 19-year-old starlet will be bowing out of the iconic BBC sci-fi saga after a stint shorter than two full series.
She’s set to make her exit from Doctor Who next year, but fans can still catch her on telly as Ruby Tuesday, the current companion to the fresh-faced Timelord Ncuti Gatwa.
Ex-Corrie actress Millie, who was known for her turn as Kelly Neelan on the cobbles, will pass the baton to Varada Seethu, who’s gearing up to join Ncuti’s crew in his second run. Millie’s been dropping hints about her future ambitions, saying: “Doctor Who is super challenging but I’d love to do something that’s completely out of my comfort zone.

“In this industry, you can’t even fathom what you could do next. If someone had said to me at Corrie ‘You will be a Doctor Who companion’. I’d have said ‘haha, not sure about that’. So I’ll go wherever it takes me.”
Chatting with TV Times, she gushed: “Oh my CV is full of stuff now. We had a great choreographer Jack Murphy on set in The Devil’s Chord [big dance scenes involved], so things like that have definitely helped me grow so much.
“Also, working alongside Ncuti is like having a free masterclass. I’m like ‘you’re making me a better actor by the second’. You really get to know a person when you’re filming with them every day for nine months, and Ncuti is just magic.”

Millie is now set to dazzle as a bride on the set of The Forsyte Saga, where she’s been seen filming her latest role as Irene, the love interest of Soames Forsyte. She was caught on camera in a horse-drawn carriage with Fiona Button, known for her role in The Split.
The upcoming series marks the third adaptation of ‘The Forsyte Saga’ on television in under six decades and has been scripted by Poldark’s Debbie Horsfield. In a move that shocked fans, Russell T Davies, the Doctor Who showrunner, decided to write Millie out of the sci-fi series shortly after her first season wrapped up.
This came as a surprise just weeks after her debut in the December festive special. Caught in action during her last moments on Doctor Who, Millie was seen sprinting through Cardiff’s streets.

It seems her character faces a tense farewell, spotted in green combat trousers, a red top, and a denim jacket, fleeing from unit police alongside two other characters, including two women in wheelchairs.
While the exact reasons for Millie’s departure from Doctor Who remain undisclosed, she has commented on the demanding nature of the work, comparing it to her three-year stint on Coronation Street as Kelly Neelan. Millie reflected: “Coronation Street runs like clockwork as we were doing 10 to 13 scenes a day.”
“It definitely geared me up for this experience because Ncuti and I are primarily the only two people in the cast – we’re in every scene, every day! So they’re different shows but can be quite similar. They are both iconic British dramas too, and each has a level of pressure, but this one[Doctor Who] is a little bit more pressure! “.
