Corrie icon gushes over ‘gorgeous’ Kylie Minogue after working together on romance movie

Todd Boyce has opened up about working with “gorgeous” Kylie Minogue.

The Coronation Street actor appeared alongside the Padam hitmaker in 1989 romance movie The Delinquents. The Australian flick is based on Criena Rohan’s 1962 book of the same name and starred Kylie, in her feature film debut, and Charlie Schlatter as the main characters Lola and Brownie.

Todd played the role of Lyle, who hosts a party with his partner Mavis which is attended by Lola and Brownie. The film was released to mixed reviews from critics at the time.

Speaking on the Soap from the Box podcast, he told host Lee Salisbury: “It was a big Warner Brothers film so we had this big red carpet affair in Leicester Square with limos dropping us off. It really was a wonderful, memorable, first night. We had a big party in a great venue down Tottenham Court Road somewhere.

“I said to my friends, these were my dancing days when I was clubbing, there is no such thing as a dancefloor with Kylie. She will dance where she’s standing. She wasn’t going to walk to a dancefloor. She was so magnetic, so gorgeous and so charming. She was great to work with. We finished filming about six months before the film was released so it was a great experience and it was a cool film to do.”

Todd is more known for his stint as serial killer Stephen Reid in Coronation Street. He reign of terror came to an abrupt end last year after he left Weatherfield in a body bag. The 62-year-old star – who first appeared on the cobbles as evil Stephen between 1996 and 2007 before returning in June 2022 – admitted he gets a lot of fan mail from people who love “a bit of a bad boy”.

Despite his villain role and murdering three people, Todd has previously said that he’s become a sex symbol. He told Daily Star: “I get a lot of messages from viewers. They’re from gay men and women. They are up for a bit of a bad boy, I guess. They often message me and say they want to speak to me directly. I try not to get too involved with that. I feel like one of those killers in prisons who gets letters from people falling in love with them.”
