A Coronation Street legend went on a date with The Chase star Paul Sinha, according to the quizzer.
Shobna Gulati shot to fame playing Sunita Alahan on the ITV soap – making her debut in 2001. And it’s fair to say she was a firm-favourite on the cobbles.
During her stint on the show, Shobna was involved in several dramatic storylines. However, in 2013 she was killed off in a fire at the Rovers Return.

And on Wednesday (May 8) she appeared on ITV’s Beat The Chasers – hosted by Bradley Walsh. The show follows a slew of famous faces take on the Chasers in a bid to win cash for their chosen charities.
It was a Corrie reunion too, as Shobna was reunited with Bradley – who played Danny Baldwin on the ITV soap back in the day. He recalled their first scene together, where Shobna’s character gave him a good slap.
After reminiscing with Bradley about their Corrie days, Shobna managed to get two questions right in her cash-builder, taking £2,000 to the Chasers.
The first two brainboxes offering to take on Shobna were Anne Hegerty and Paul. The cameras then panned to the pair and Paul shocked viewers as he let slip a cheeky confession.
Talking to Shobna he said. “We’ve not met since that dinner our parents arranged for us all those years ago.” Giggling, Shobna replied: “I know, I know… the reason why I didn’t marry you is because… you are a doctor.”
Unfortunately for Shobna, during her game on Beat The Chasers she was caught after getting some questions wrong. However, due to it being a celebrity special, she went home with £1,000 for her charity.
Paul has been happily married to husband Oliver since December 2019. As for Shobna, she was married for from 1990 to 1994, before having a four-year relationship with former Emmerdale actor Gary Turner from 1999 until 2003.
