Deleted Lord of the Rings scene introduces fans to ‘freakish and disturbing’ character

Fans have been left in shock after discovering a ‘disturbing’ scene from the final Lord of the Rings film which was left on the cutting room floor.

In a fantasy world filled with giant spiders, orcs, goblins and trolls, it’s safe to assume that some of the characters could end up as nightmare fuel and one such Middle-earth dweller that was due to crop up in Return of the King could definitely have given sleepless nights if it made it to the silver screen.

However, for whatever reason, Peter Jackson decided to take his interpretation of the J.R.R. Tolkien character out of the Hollywood version. And some film buffs were left wondering why it was removed, considering what a good job was done of it.

In the Extended Edition of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Jackson shows us a character called the Mouth of Sauron, who truly fits his name.

All teeth and terror, he is referred to as one of Sauron’s most devoted servants, serving as his emissary.

The character was Lieutenant of the Tower of Barad-dûr during the War of the Ring. Over time, his true name became forgotten, known to no one, not even himself.

He was described as an evil man of tall stature, clad in black robes and a black, lofty helm.

And when he shows up as Aragorn and his allies approach the Black Gate of Mordor, it’s easy to be simultaneously disgusted and intrigued.

As he talks with Aragorn and Gandalf, he proudly displaying Frodo’s Elvish chainmail shirt as a symbol of victory.

And fans were delighted to finally get a glimpse of the “malevolent” being and shared their thoughts on X, formerly Twitter.
