Eamonn Holmes reveals he’s been in hospital again as he issues update on chronic pain

Eamonn Holmes has opened up about his latest stint in the hospital amid his long-running battle with chronic pain.

The telly veteran, who is married to Loose Women host Ruth Langsford, shared his health update on GB News on Tuesday (May 14), not shying away from some tough talk about his treatment.

The 64-year-old star got candid with viewersduring a chat about superbugs, though he kept quiet on why he was back in the wards. “I was in hospital the past week and the medication I was taking before I went into hospital compared to the medication I got in hospital made me keep saying, ‘just tell me, are you doing this for cost reasons, or medical reasons or does no one have a clue? ” Eamonn questioned.

He added, feeling somewhat perplexed, “I kind of felt like no one had a clue at the end of the day.” During the show’s talk on the topics of superbugs and Covid-19, Eamonn didn’t hold back, suggesting that doctors might not be hitting the mark when it comes to doling out pain relief.

“Medicine’s way of dealing with this is to say ‘Oh we’ll not give you an antibiotic or have half a headache tablet instead of a full headache tablet’,” he remarked. That’s not the right way either.”, reports OK!.

Eamonn has been battling chronic pain since a dislocated pelvis landed him in hospital back in 2021. An MRI revealed the damage, and he later had surgery to correct three slipped discs. Post-op, Eamonn shared that his mobility took a hit, sometimes requiring a scooter to get about.

Back on the air with “Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel” after another back surgery, he confessed to viewers: “Basically, I can’t walk. I can do everything… everything above here [gesturing to his waist] works, but it’s the legs.”

Last year, he was under the knife once more, and a tumble down his home’s stone steps, which he shares with wife Ruth, resulted in a broken shoulder. Eamonn keeps his fans in the loop with his gruelling physio sessions, but a recent social media post left some fearing the worst.

He uploaded a moody black-and-white snap with the caption: “A lot to think about….. one of those days.” The post caused a stir, with one worried fan commenting: “Thought he’d died”, and another chiming in: “So sad! ! A lovely man.”
