Oscar viewers were left distracted by Emily Blunt’s dress as her husband, John Krasinski, held her hand during a significant moment.
The couple shared a tender moment as the nominees for Best Supporting Actress were announced, with John squeezing Emily’s hand in support. Emily was up for the award for her role in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, but it was Danielle Brooks who took home the Oscar for her performance in The Color Purple.
However, fans seemed more interested in Emily’s dress than the awards. As she sat down at the Dolby Theatre, viewers noticed that the straps on her dress looked a bit strange.

One viewer commented: “I can’t unsee the straps of Emily Blunt’s dress.” Another viewer admitted they “couldn’t stop staring” at her “floating straps.”, reports the Mirror.
A third viewer even suggested: “She should get her money back for that dress, if she actually had to pay for it.” On the red carpet, Emily and John coordinated their outfits, with Emily donning a white and silver, sparkly gown. The dress featured metallic silver trim, including around her waist.
However, the straps on her shoulders were problematic as they appeared to hover above her skin. This gap was noticeable when she was standing, but became even more apparent when she sat down.
Some fans thought the dress was “made of cardboard” and were baffled by its design. “That dress with the shoulders is a fashion disaster,” one fan observed.
Another voiced their thoughts: “The bodice of that dress looks like a brace for scoliosis.” But it wasn’t just the shoulder section of the dress that puzzled them. The mid-section of the gown also attracted attention because of its odd design.
One fan pointed out: “The pelvic area of dress looks like an ad for jockey briefs.” John went for a classic all-white suit, complete with a bow tie and a silver brooch. Although he wasn’t on the nominations list this year, he stepped out in support of his wife.
Despite the wardrobe critique, fans are swooning over the adorable couple. As one fan shared: “I love them as a husband and wife duo in film. A Quiet Place is a brilliant concept. Whew, it is everything!”
