Good Morning Britain’s Marvarine Cole dropped a bombshell “breaking news” announcement live on air on Tuesday.
Before sharing the breaking news, Richard Madeley shared with viewers what was coming up on the show and who they would be speaking with.
Richard began: “Thank you very much indeed,” before pressing on: “We are going to be speaking live with Emma Webber, that is Barnaby’s mother after 8am. But for now, here is Marvarine with the news..”
As Trisha Goddard and Richard eagerly turned towards their fellow presenter, Marvarine took a moment before telling viewers: “Good morning, we start with some breaking news.”
She continued, laying out the grim details: “The Metropolitan Police have charged Ioan Pintaru with the attempted murder of an 11-year-old girl, who was stabbed in London’s Leicester Square.
“Authorities have praised security guard Abdullah., whose bravery disarmed the 32-year-old knifeman and the force confirmed the girl’s injuries are not life-threatening,” reports the Mirror.
Ioan Pintaru, with no fixed abode, faces charges of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He has been held in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later this morning.
Leicester Square became a crime scene at 11.34am on Monday, 12 August when the police were called following reports of a brutal stabbing.
An 11-year-old girl was discovered with stab wounds and promptly taken to hospital where her injuries, though severe, were deemed non-life threatening.
It was initially believed that the girl’s mother, a 34-year-old woman, was also hurt, but it was later confirmed that blood from her daughter’s injuries had been mistaken for injuries of her own.
Elsewhere in the programme, fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Trisha’s return to GMB – and many were thrilled at her appearance.
“@TrishaGoddard looking stunning,” one fan tweeted.
Another praised: “Love Richard and Trisha on GMB a very professional pairing!”
“I love Trisha very much, she is a very talented journalist,” a third shared while someone else added: “Lovely to see you, Trisha.”
