There’s a truly harrowing porn documentary on Netflix that has flown under the radar since its release in 2015 – because plenty of fans were too freaked out to make it through the whole thing.
Hot Girls Wanted, produced by Parks and Recreation star Rashida Jones, explores the reasons young women turn to the porn industry to make a living. It explores what goes on in front of and behind the cameras, and how an unregulated industry often ends up exploiting its workers.
One scene in particular had fans switching off, as one adult star was made to “throw up” while performing oral sex on a male co-star. Latina actress Ava Kelly, whose real name is Jade, was followed by cameras as she showed up to work for a site called Latina Abuse.

She explained on camera: “I think what I do is an outlet for something that’s already there. Supply and demand. That’s there because somebody wanted it. My first porn was actually facial abuse. What it is, it’s extra degrading compared to the other stuff.”
‘Facial abuse’ is the idea of ‘forced’ oral sex on camera, with the aim of making the actress vomit. In the introduction to one video, Ava admitted she got into the industry to “pay the bills” after working for an insurance company.
She explained on a voiceover: “It’s Latina abuse, so they say stuff that would be stereotypical to Spanish people. You’re watching it on the computer, your heart will start racing. I think it’s the combination of everything. If it was just him talking all of this stuff, it wouldn’t be so bad.
“If it was just him f***ing me, it wouldn’t be so bad. If it was just me throwing up, it wouldn’t be so bad. But these three things followed one by the other, it looks like it’s much rougher than it is.” The sickening images then saw things get more extreme – but Ava says she “doesn’t judge anybody”.
“If that’s what floats their boat, they’re watching it on the computer and they’re not going out and doing it to any actual girls. So look at it that way – at least it’s me acting,” she told the camera. “I don’t look at stuff like it’s black and white, good and bad. Good and bad is what your opinion is in the moment, because X amount of time ago I thought certain things were bad that I don’t think are bad now.”

Some fans branded the scene the one they couldn’t get through, with one X user writing: “I just watched the Netflix documentary Hot Girls wanted and wow, that was sad.” Another echoed: “Watch the Hot Girls Wanted documentary on Netflix about how they do porn and I can’t believe boyfriend’s being okay with their girlfriends in porn. Jesus should just come back after I am done watching this.”
While a third said: “Have you seen the Netflix doc Hot Girls Wanted? It’s one of the saddest things I’ve ever watched.” And another viewer echoed: “In a horrifying doc on Netflix called Hot Girls Wanted the pimp/pornographer says he works in Florida because there is no legal requirement for condoms on set.”
