ITV’s The 1% Club came up against internet conspiracy theorists after it was claimed one couple were cheating.
Contestants Jason Ducket, 36, and his wife Rowena Ducket came under fire during a recent episode of the programme. But Jason has since shut down allegations of cheating – and it’s said he’s been cleared following an internal investigation by the show.
Those who are lucky enough to appear on the fan-favourite quiz show will feature as part of an audience of 100 people. The players are trying their hand at making it to the final round in hope of bagging a share of the £100,000 prize fund.

The aim of the game is to answer the questions correctly as they get harder each round, with the most intelligent players getting a stab at winning some serious cash. With the stakes being so high, it’s inevitable that contestants will be under the watchful eye of viewers.
Viewers thought the married couple could have been indicating the answers by touching their ears during the game. Rowena was asked: “To which body part can you add one letter at the start to make it the word for the job it does?'”, with the answer being “ear” for “hear”.
Jason was seen touching his ear during the question and many thought it was to communicate the answer to his wife, who was sat away from him in the studio. However, but both had actually been eliminated already.
Jason defended himself, telling The Sun: “I almost admire the creativity of someone to come up with that because I hadn’t thought of that. There was nothing to gain for either of us.
“We were both out. Anything I was doing it was to just sort of calm myself. If you spin it, you could say my arms are folded. Was the answer harm and arm?”
A 1% Club spokesperson has also come to Jason’s defence. He told the outlet: “Any game show worth its salt attracts conspiracy theories. But happily, initial inquiries quickly established that there were no grounds for suspicion.”
During the programme Lee chatted to the married couple who were open about being an item. They even joked with the host that they preferred to go by the surname “Doo-Kay” which was a nod to the programme Keeping Up Appearance’s Hyacinth Bucket, or “Bouquet” as she liked to go by.
One viewer took to X after tuning in on Saturday night, penning: “Did anyone else notice this guy giving away the answer when he touched both his ears?” Another person echoed: “Ear ear . . . think there was a wee bit of cheating going on in 1% Club.” A third agreed: “Bit naughty from Mr Duckett there rubbing his ear.”
