James Corden ‘loses temper’ with airport staff following chaotic Portugal flight

James Corden has been seen getting irate with airplane staff after a chaotic flight from Portugal.

Photos showed Corden, 45, becoming frustrated with British Airways staff, appearing to act more expressive the longer he spoke with personnel. The Gavin and Stacey star had been due to fly on a plane from the Portuguese city of Faro back to London Heathrow, when he – alongside the remaining passengers – ran into problems.

However, a fellow passenger who was also on the plane said that James had been the voice of reason for the passengers. She added that as a result, his gradual frustration became more justified, as he was standing up for those travelling on the flight.

Speaking to Metro, Vanessa – who was travelling with her husband and her mother – said that the events leading up to the incident were horrific. Explaining the situation, she said that after take off, the plane only stayed in the air for about 45 minutes before coming back in to land.

“It was something along the lines of, ‘Gather your possessions as best you can; take off your shoes; and when you’re told to by the airplane staff,'” Vanessa said. She also said staff told passengers to adopt the brace position and get off the plane using the emergency exits when they landed.

But soon after making the announcement to passengers, those travelling were told that this no longer needed to be the case. “Basically, what had happened was the flaps on the airplane wing which are supposed to go down when you are in the air won’t go down, which meant that they wouldn’t be able to raise them on landing,” she recalled.

As a result, the plane they were travelling on ended up diverting to Lisbon, and passengers were grounded for three hours. Eventually, the plane was deemed to be unsafe for the flight and passengers were escorted off the aircraft.

However, despite photos of an irate Corden sounding off, Vanessa said that the Late Late Show host provided a lighter atmosphere. She said that during the wait, he allowed people to take selfies and pictures with him as a way to pass the time.

“He was just really nice,” she added. “He would have been well within his rights to sit and sulk in his seat like the rest of us would be doing but he didn’t.”

Once finally in the terminal, British Airways staff were nowhere to be found, according to the passenger. As a result, James took it upon himself to ask airport staff what was the best course of action, with any signs of frustration shared by his fellow flyers.

Following an arduous ordeal, the flight was rescheduled for the following day, and successfully flew back to the UK. According to Vanessa, James continued to be a “nice guy” by letting women and children go in front of him”.
