Katie Price ‘s boyfriend JJ Slater has broken his silence as he hits out at critics for his romance with the former glamour model.
Slater, 31, first met Katie, 45 after she reached out to him in December after he admitted to being diagnosed with diabetes. After some initial messages, the pair met up for a coffee and the attraction was instant between the two.
Since then, the pair have gone from strength to strength in their relationship, and JJ has already said there has been talk of a potential marriage. However, critics of the couple have hit out at the 14-year age gap between the two.

But speaking to MailOnline, the former Married at First Sight star was quick to defend his relationship with mum-of-five Katie. He also addressed the criticism of their relationship, saying that regardless of what they say, the Pricey makes him very “happy”.

The reality star admitted that he was hoping that Katie was the one who had been waiting for him at the end of the aisle, when he appeared on the E4 series last year. Since getting together, the pair have been inseparable and both have supported each other through the good and bad times, after Katie was declared bankrupt for a second time.
In the interview, JJ admitted the relationship with Katie came as a shock. “It wasn’t something I was looking for, I had been on Married At First Sight UK, which was a stressful and intense experience but with Kate and I… it just happened super naturally,” he explained.
After having gone for coffee as friends, the pair saw sparks fly and decided to give the relationship a go. Slater added that the model and businesswoman was “being very kind” to him following his medical diagnosis, which was something he “appreciated”.
He added: “Of course, she is obviously a very, very attractive lady and I do fancy her, she’s my girlfriend now. But I have always thought she was fit.”

Addressing the age gap difference, JJ said that he did not care about how old Katie was, insisting that the only thing that matter is that if the couple gets along. “With our age, it’s not even a consideration… age doesn’t matter at all,” he said.
“Age is just a number and when you’re older it’s not an issue. We’re both on the same page and wave length and that’s all that matters.”
Katie has had a string of failed relationships and marriages in the past, having walked down the aisle three times in her life. She has previously gotten hitched to Peter Andre, Alex Reid and Kieran Hayler – as well as a number of other relationship that did not work out – the most recent of which being Carl Woods.

But JJ, who also owns a clothing brand, says that her troubled dating history has not put him off falling head over heels for the Pricey. He added the pair had dropped the L-bomb and they both make the effort, which for him is a sign he is doing something right.
“We are both adults and I wouldn’t be with someone if I didn’t see a future with them. So, that’s how I see it, we aren’t together to waste each other’s time – we are adults so of course, I see a future with her.”
