Loose Women slapped with over 100 Ofcom complaints after Denise Welch’s furious rant

Loose Women has been hit with 103 Ofcom complaints following Denise Welch’s heated outburst at a TV guest earlier this week.

The drama unfolded when Denise, 65, demonstrated her frustration over the ongoing criticism of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The panelist was left fuming on Monday (May 6) when Dickie Arbiter, former press secretary to the late Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III before his coronation last year, joined the show to discuss the monarch’s cancer battle.

While the conversation started off calmly, it inevitably veered off course when Dickie broached the contentious issue – can the monarch ever mend his strained relationship with his son, Prince Harry?

Royal enthusiasts will remember that Harry, along with his wife Meghan, opted for a new life in America, stepping away from their senior Royal duties. Since then, the Duchess of Sussex has faced more criticism than ever.

Meghan also encountered a surge of negative press when she was first rumoured to be dating Prince Harry in 2016. The couple have publicly denounced the adverse media attention they’ve received, both individually and as a couple, as well as parents to their two children, Archie and Lilibet, reports the Mirror.

For Denise, Meghan and Harry’s decision to ditch Windsor and Frogmore Cottage was a no-brainer, and she didn’t hold back in defending them against Dickie’s digs at Meghan Markle.

“If I may say, do you not think there is a reason why Harry did such a thing? “, the 65 year old probed, alluding to the Duke’s move to the US. Denise then touched on the turmoil within King Charles III’s clan, tracing the pain back to his marriage to Lady Diana “when he was in love with Camilla.”

“It ruined a lot of Diana’s life”, Denise asserted. She went on to describe how Prince Harry had to grapple with his mother’s tragic death following a paparazzi pursuit, march behind her casket for the world to see, and come to terms with Queen Camilla as his stepmum.

“Then he has a wife who is constantly being slated by the press, including your good self”, Denise fired at Dickie, earning some claps from the crowd. “I am just sick to death of the bashing that this woman gets (…) we continually berate this woman every day.”

Fans rushed to complain about the episode to Ofcom

Dickie’s attempt to justify the flak aimed at the Sussexes for quitting Royal duties was met with Denise’s fierce retort: “Why would they not walk out? Why would they want to spend their life in a country that hated them?”

While several Loose Women fans were nodding along with Denise’s take, it seems she also ruffled a few feathers, sparking outrage among some watchers. A whopping 103 viewers contacted the Ofcom hotline to moan about Denise’s royal family rant and her clash with Dickie and some slamed the actress on social media.

One troll tried to needle Denise on X with a snide remark: “Good old Denise”, they sneered, “surprised she can stay sober enough to be able to partake in a debate.” But Denise wasn’t about to let that slide and clapped back. “12 years Dougie! ! Keep up,” she fired back. Denise been open as a book about her addiction battle over the years.

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
