Oasis fans furious as Liam Gallagher tweet resurfaces after ticket prices soared

Oasis fans have let rip after an old tweet emerged in which Liam Gallagher slammed Noel for the price of his concert tickets.

The Wonderwall singers have buried the hatchet after years of feuding and are reuniting for a series of concerts next year. However, they have come under fire from fans over “dynamic pricing”, which has seen people forking out much more than they expected to for tickets.

Now an old message from Liam has resurfaced from the days when he and Noel were locked in a war of words. And in it he was having a pop at his bro for selling tickets for $350 (£265). The post on Twitter, now X, was from 2017 and said: “350 dollars to go and see rkid in USA what a c*** when will it all stop as you were LG x.”

Fans have had a field day with the comment after the ticket pricing row, with many joking about how well – or how badly – the remark is ageing. “BIBLICAL,” one person said on X, as another commented: “The cheek of it.”

“This is ageing really well @oasis,” said another. Someone else remarked: “Seven years down the road & £350 sterling to go and see Oasis. As you were.”

“What’s your excuse for charging over 368 quid then?” asked another fan. “Cheap today it would seem,” teased someone else.

Oasis’ ticketing row saw some fans who had queued online to buy tickets offered them for around £350, when they had expected to pay closer to £150. This was because of dynamic pricing on Ticketmaster, where prices rose according to the demand.

Liam and Noel have distanced themselves from it, saying in a statement that they leave pricing decisions to others. “As for the well reported complaints many buyers had over the operation of Ticketmaster’s dynamic ticketing: it needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used,” they said.

“While prior meetings between promoters, Ticketmaster and the band’s management resulted in a positive ticket sale strategy, which would be a fair experience for fans, including dynamic ticketing to help keep general ticket prices down as well as reduce touting, the execution of the plan failed to meet expectations.

“All parties involved did their utmost to deliver the best possible fan experience, but due to the unprecedented demand this became impossible to achieve.”

The Competition and Markets Authority has since said it is investigating whether Ticketmaster breached consumer protection law.
