Oprah Winfrey rushed to hospital for ‘serious’ issue with ‘stuff coming out both ends’

Oprah Winfrey has been taken into hospital to deal with a “very serious” issue, according to one of her friends.

Oprah, 70, was due to appear on daytime TV show CBS Mornings on Tuesday (June 11) to give fans a chance to chat about her book club. She had been due to speak about the book Familiaris by David Wroblewski, which was the latest book to be promoted as part of the presenter’s world-famous club.

However, good pal Gayle King, who also works as a news presenter on the show was forced to admit that the legendary broadcaster would be missing from her guest slot. She went on to explain why Oprah had pulled out of the show at the last minute and revealed it was a medical issue.

“She had some kind of stomach thing – stomach flu – stuff was coming out of both ends,” King admitted. “I won’t get too graphic, but needless to say, she ended up in the hospital, dehydration, had to get an IV, it was a very serious thing.”

Pal Gayle also added that she hoped that Oprah would not mind her going into the nitty-gritty with her current illness. “She will be okay,” she concluded – reassuring fans that all is well with the TV host.

Author David still appeared on the show to promote his book, but had to do so without the support of Oprah herself. However, this did not stop Winfrey herself from promoting the novel, instead taking to social media to fawn over the story.

Snapping a photo of herself for the camera, Oprah beamed with smiles as she clutched David’s book. Writing in the caption, she said: “I’m delighted for us to dive into an epic novel from the tremendously talented bestselling author.”

Continuing on, she wrote: “David takes us on an extraordinary journey that brilliantly interweaves history, philosophy, adventure, and mysticism to explore the meaning of love, friendship, and living your life’s true purpose.” She then urged those who wished to read the book to buy a copy and share their thoughts on the plot as they go on.

Oprah’s stint in hospital comes not long after she revealed she was taking medication similar to that of Ozempic. The drug, which is not for weight loss but has been used by a number of celebrities to do so, has also been plagued with issues, as several stars admitted that taking the drug caused them to have drastic health scares.

“I was actually recommending it to people long before I was on it myself,” Oprah said in an interview with People magazine. “The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift.”
