Phillip Schofield has ruled out ever working with ITV again as he returned to television.
The former This Morning presenter, 62, has made a controversial return to the silver screen after leaving ITV last May. His decision to leave came after allegations of an affair with a much younger male colleague arose, which prompted his departure.
Since then, Phillip has kept out of the limelight, having confessed to the affair soon after he left both This Morning and ITV. He also declared the relationship was “unwise but not illegal”, prompting a wave of criticism from viewers and co-workers alike.

However, the former Dancing on Ice presenter confirmed that he would not be returning to work with ITV again, in a stark confession in his new show. Taking part in Channel 5 ‘s Cast Away, the Cube host was left marooned on a deserted island off the coast of Madagascar for ten days, with just one camera to keep him company.
Before heading to the wilderness, Phillip addressed rumours that he was due to enter the jungle for a stint in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!. He admitted that while he has close ties to the show, thanks to his friendships with hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, he would not think of going back on the channel.
“Although my best mates host it, there are some channels you just won’t work for,” Phillip confessed. “There are some people you won’t work for.”
During the show, the former stalwart of ITV shows such as 5 Gold Rings and the British Soap Awards said that he had been forced out of the show, despite having released his own statement saying he had left on his own accord. He also used the alone time to take a brutal swipe at former co-host Holly Willoughby, mocking her statement in the wake of the scandal: “I’m okay. Are you okay?”
However, Holly was not the only person that Phillip had choice words for, as he chomped on a piece of fruit before launching into a series of scathing quips to his former colleagues. “It’s going through an angry bitter stage…like television presenters haha,” he joked.
Phillip has not been completely alone, as he has received support from a legend of stage and screen in the form of Dame Joanna Lumley. In a message she posted ahead of the airing of the show, she gave Phillip some words of advice to keep himself safe.
“Listen, Phil these are the tips I’ve got, keep your knives sharp, spend much of the day trying to find wood otherwise you won’t be able to eat anything,” she explained. “When I was on the island I made a pair of shoes out of my bra… and I would love to think that you could do something a bit challenging, and bring it back so we could all look at it.”
