Prince Harry is known for his famous showbiz connections in both the sporting world and acting alike.
He and his wife Meghan Markle have many famous pals including Rihanna, George and Amal Clooney and Margot Robbie. But that doesn’t mean it’s been plain sailing for the dad-of-two, who has certainly ruffled a few feathers in his time.
As the royal celebrates his 40th birthday with his nearest and dearest, Daily Star has taken a deep dive inside his reported “feud” with footballing legend David Beckham.

Over the years, the pair had once shared a good relationship. At one point it saw the Beckhams host the former Suits star in their six-bedroom Beverly Hills mansion before her wedding.
But it’s fair to say things have deteriorated after various snubs with the ex-footballing star who has maintained a good relationship with Harry’s feuding family. Earlier this year, royal commentator Emily Andrews recalled a particularly tense moment between the pair.
Back in 2018, Becks was invited to the Invictus Games in Sydney by the royal. The sports event for wounded servicemen and women, founded by Harry in 2014, was planned to be the highlight of the Sussexes’ first tour of Australia.
However, things took an awkward turn when Harry appeared to be avoiding the former Manchester United star. Writing in Women, Emily claimed a source told her at the time: “Becks was personally invited and duly came, along with sons Cruz and Romeo.
“When he arrived in Sydney, he asked what Harry’s schedule was so he could attend the same events.” Harry’s response, when he found out, was thought to be rather blunt.
It is claimed he said: “‘What the f**k? He should be coming to support the games, not have his pictures taken with me.’ When we pointed out that having a picture of them together would be great for Invictus coverage, he then said he never wanted to be in a picture with him.”
He continued: “That then meant a ridiculous two-step to try and ensure that they were never pictured together.” The insider went on to describe a moment at the wheelchair basketball event where Beckham was sitting with dignitaries, where Harry and Meghan were meant to sit.
The source claimed: “So a whole area on the other side of the court had to be cleared of spectators and filled with Australian military, so Harry and Meghan could sit there instead.” The Royal snub may have been ignited by the new duchess’s aversion to any limelight-stealing by Victoria during her first royal tour.
It has since been suggested that the Sussexes rift with the Beckham’s began when Meghan believed they had been leaking stories to the media. A source The Sun in 2020: “Harry was very polite, but obviously it was a pretty awkward exchange and David was mortified.
“Inexplicably, [Meghan] feared Victoria was behind it – I mean, the idea that Victoria Beckham would be personally calling journalists to give them a scoop is ridiculous – and spoke to Harry about it.”
Since then, writer Tom Bower has alleged that David took “revenge” on the redheaded royal after the 2018 snub. The author has penned books about both the royals and the Beckham’s.
According to The Independent, the author revealed how the sporting legend got his own back in his book The House Of Beckham: Money, Sex and Power. After the Invictus Games concluded, Bower alleged that the footballer jetted to Boston to join Harry’s big brother Prince William – who Harry is thought to have a tense relationship with.
He was spotted at an Earthshot prize ceremony on a day when Harry and Meghan had another event going on in the US. He said that the Boston do that David attended “overshadowed” the Sussexes event, claiming: “Beckham had got his revenge for the Sydney snub.”
Daily Star has contacted representatives for David Beckham and the Sussexes for comment.
